Mr. Bongiovanni has been with CIR since 1985. He started as an electrical apprentice and later became a Journeyman Wireman. He then progressed to Sub-Foreman, Foreman, General Foreman and then Project Manager. He has been at his current position as Sustainable Projects Administrator since 2008. The years he has spent with CIR have exposed him to a wide range of work within the electrical industry including new construction, industrial systems, data communications, energy management, high voltage work, lighting retrofits and PV systems. His training consists of High Voltage Terminations and Testing, Fall Protection, SHECN, Lockout/ Tagout, Aerial Lift Training, Confined Space, Short Circuit and Fuse Protection, 30-Hour OSHA Training, Foremanship Training, Business Training, Journeyman Education, Electrical Code and Photovoltaic Systems Certification. As a NYSERDA Eligible PV Installer, Mr. Bongiovanni’s most recent accomplishment was the installation of two state of the art PV tracking systems in the fall of 2012. They are the first DEGERenergie solar tracking systems to be installed in New York State. Utilizing Maximum Light Detection (MLD) technology, these systems will prove to be on the cutting edge of an ever increasing market in solar PV systems.
Ms. Almeter has been with CIR since 2001, and was promoted from Sustainability Coordinator to Renewable Systems Designer in the spring of 2012. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Design with a minor in Architecture from the University at Buffalo, School of Architecture and Planning in June of 2006, and has completed all of the coursework for a Dual Master of Architecture and Master of Urban Planning Degree also from the UB’s School of Architecture and Planning. Her area of specialization was focused on the sustainable design of the built environment, and she has completed extensive research on a myriad of related planning and design issues. It is this depth and breadth of knowledge that made her the perfect choice as CIR’s Sustainability Coordinator, and the design skills that she has acquired provided for a natural transition to Solar Design.
In December of 2013, Ms. Almeter earned the solar industry’s leading recognition of installation expertise from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP®), and is currently a NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional™. Designation as a NABCEP PV Installation Professional™ is widely recognized to be the most important and meaningful certification of its kind in the solar industry. Ms. Almeter is also a NABCEP Certified PV Technical Sales Professional™, a designation that she earned in June of 2014.
Ms. Almeter is responsible for the design of PV systems, including detailed layout and 3-line electrical drawings, shading and performance analysis, verification of system components, coordinating utility interconnection, assembling rebate packages, and coordinating with the customer, architect, installing electrician and other interested parties to ensure a seamless and timely installation of a high-quality PV system designed to meet the customer’s needs.
Mr. Hoage is an experienced journeyman electrician who has been with CIR since 2005. He began installing solar electric systems with CIR on their first solar project, PUSH Buffalo’s Net Zero House, and has been involved with every installation since. Mr. Hoage currently supervises CIR’s two crews of solar installers, is present at all inspections, and assists with every aspect of the solar installation process, from sales to design, throughout the installation and commissioning process, to post-commissioning customer service. He has proven to be a truly integral solar team member.
In November of 2014, Mr. Hoage earned his certification from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP®), and is currently a NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional™. Mr. Hoage’s other notable accomplishments include winning the Renzi Award as an apprentice electrician for maintaining top average over the five years of apprenticeship school.
Mr. Harzewski is responsible for business development of the solar division of CIR Electric. He joined CIR in 2012 to expand the company’s activity in the solar industry. Prior to joining CIR, Mr. Harzewski spent three years in the home performance industry as a BPI certified building analyst. With over 100 energy audits completed, his expertise in energy reduction techniques developed into a passion for renewable energies. Using his “building-as-a-system” approach he evaluates energy needs based on historical consumption data and planned future consumption to add renewable energy to an existing site via Solar PV technology. He received his undergraduate degree from Keuka College and MBA from Medaille College.
Ms. Regan joined the company in the winter of 2012 as CIR’s first Solar Intern. Working her way up, Ms. Regan was promoted through the ranks to Director of Business Development where she acts as a powerful business driver whose entrepreneurial instincts are contributing to CIR’s continuous growth within the renewable sector. She has successfully aided the solar division to effectively grow their clientele and company identity from each year to the next. In aggregate, Ms. Regan’s has commissioned a total of over 5 MW in commercial solar projects in her young career, with another 4 MW in development. Ms. Regan obtained her NABCEP Certified PV Technical Sales certification in December of 2016. Currently, Ms. Regan holds a BS from Canisius College in the field of Environmental Studies, with a focus on environmental issues and sustainable economics. Ms. Regan has previously developed projects in various fields, independently and as an employee of prestigious companies such as New York Sea Grant and Cornell Cooperative Extension.
Ms. Ralabate joined the CIR team in July of 2014. She graduated for the University at Buffalo Spring of 2013 with a Bachelors in Physics. Her background in Physical Science has sparked her interest in renewable resources and has led her to the position of Solar Projects Coordinator. Ms. Ralabate is responsible for design verification, application submittal, permitting and interconnection.
Mr. Levin is a member of CIR’s Solar division. He joined the team in October of 2015. Jordan’s main responsibilities include customer outreach, preliminary quotations, and site evaluation. Jordan graduated from University at Buffalo’s Theater Performance program with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. His background in theater has brought him much success in a variety of sales positions. He has always had a passion for renewable energy and is so excited to learn and absorb everything he can about the industry.
Ms. Kerling is a member of the Solar by CIR team. She began working in September of 2015. Her main responsibilities as Projects Coordinator include submitting applications and permitting, scheduling, and interconnection. With a great deal of experience in customer service and a Linguistics degree from the University at Buffalo, Ms. Kerling is a vital asset to the company providing clear communication and streamlining the application process.
Melanie McMahan has lived in Buffalo for 8 1/2 years. Originally moving to this area from her native Hudson Valley for UB’s architecture and planning department, she has gained a Bachelors in Environmental Design BA and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning MUP. So far, Melanie has worked for the NYS Senate 60th District under the Chair of the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee. In that time she became immersed in our state’s robust economy of green businesses. She has organized large and small scale events including the Buffalo Niagara Green Expo which showcased 120+ local, green and sustainable businesses, non-profits and agencies. She continues to maintain this network by hosting monthly green drinks and building tour events. In 2010, she bought an abandoned house from the City of Buffalo tax auction for $3,000 in downtown and has been fixing it up ever since. She was re-elected to another 3 year term on the US Green Building Council Upstate Chapter Market Advisory Board. Just before coming to CIR, Melanie worked for an energy efficiency contractor, developing energy reduction plans for multi-family and commercial buildings. Now she is bringing her knowledge of load reduction and LED lighting design to the team.
Kevin started at CIR in June 2016. His responsibilities as Solar Specialist include educating homeowners on the many benefits of solar energy as well as guiding them through the process. Kevin is a BPI certified energy auditor and has vast experience in several trades. Educated in Environmental Policy and Management and Solar Design and Sales, Kevin is a vital asset to CIR.
Mr. Hart joined the team in September 2016 and prior was the lead designer at a smaller residential solar company in Northern Philadelphia. He is responsible for the successful code compliant design of renewable energy systems. He has also on occasion assisted in site verification and troubleshooting of solar PV systems. George has received his official NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional certificate in May and attended the Outback Power 4 day Energy Storage and Integration seminar. A graduate of the SUNY Geneseo Communication program, George has previously worked as a stagehand before catching the renewable energy bug. He adds his energy and vivacious spirit to the team of phenomenal energy practitioners at CIR.
Mr. Brunelle stems from a long-standing history in the electrical construction industry. Starting out earning an associate’s degree from Manchester Institute of Technology in the field of Industrial Electricity in 1983; Marc continued on in his field starting out as an apprentice electrician in New Hampshire that same year. In 1986, three short years later Marc had earned his Master Electrician License for the state of New Hampshire. Marc spent the next 16 years working as an apprentice in New Hampshire ultimately becoming a Field Foreman / Project Manager running multi-million dollar jobs in the commercial industrial and institutional industries. Eventually Marc moved to Buffalo, NY in 1997 and started as a Project Manager on a large NY State Prison project in Lakeview, NY. Over the course of the next 14 years, climbing the corporate ladder, Marc was promoted to VP of Construction and finally Operations at a large WNY Electrical Contractor before moving to CIR. After 4 years at CIR and a long successful journey in the electrical construction field, in January 2016 Marc obtained Partnership at CIR where he acts as COO. Marc has been a proud member of the board for NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association) since 2014.
Mr. Jakubowski joined CIR in 1995 as a project manager, before becoming Vice-President and a principal of CIR in 1998. As current Vice-President, Mr. Jakubowski is in charge of Project Estimating at CIR and Customer Relations. He received a Regents Diploma in Electrical Technology from Hutchison Central Technical High School and holds an Associates Degree in Electrical Technology from Erie Community College. His passion for electrical technology led him to continue his education throughout his 38-year career, knowledge and expertise that he shares with estimating, project management and solar team members. This passion has also driven him to take on leadership roles in the professional community, including serving as Chairman of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers in 1991, serving as Chairman of the Joint (IBEW & NECA) Apprentice Training Committee (JATC) from 1996 through 2011, and currently serving as an Active Board Member of NECA since 1992. Mr. Jakubowski’s experience, expertise and professional activism play an integral role in CIR’s expanding Solar department.
Mr. Pedro joined the company in 1999, and became a principal of CIR in 2003. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the John Wiley Jones School of Business at Geneseo State University in 1983, and has 20 years of experience as a controller/ CFO in the construction industry. He also spent some time in Boston, MA, where he worked as a management professional in the construction industry for 7 years, and was employed as a Fund Accountant for Fidelity Investments. Mr. Pedro is also active in the professional community, having served on the Board of Directors for the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) for 10 years. He currently serves as a Trustee for the IBEW Local 41 Pension, Health & Welfare and Annuity Funds, and as Treasurer of the NECA Buffalo Chapter. It was Mr. Pedro’s enthusiasm for energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies that inspired him to spearhead the development of CIR’s Solar PV Department. His financial background makes him uniquely suited to explain the long-term financial benefits of PV systems to customers, making him an integral member of CIR’s Solar Team.
Mr. Swanson began his electrical career with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Apprentice Journeyman training school and Local Union #237. Upon finishing training, he quickly obtained a position as an Electrician at a national company before joining CIR in 1992. At CIR, Mr. Swanson worked his way up through the company, from project manager to general superintendent, and becoming President of CIR in 2016. During his time at CIR, he has continued seeking educational opportunities, including taking courses in personnel management, process controls, lighting controls, and electrical codes. He is a NYS Licensed Fire Alarm installer and a NYS Licensed Master Electrician multiple cities and counties. Mr. Swanson remains active in the electrical community as a Board Member of the Local Union #237 National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee program.
